Time with my friends

Time with my friends

This past weekend I enjoyed a “staycation’ with my girlfriends.”We took a break from our busy lives and enjoyed a few hours together at the Pouran Salon Med & Spa.The spa is a tranquil space that Pouran created. As soon as I walked in, I felt relaxed. There was quiet music in the room painted a warm white, and the sound of a waterfall added to the ambience. The spa is located on the arcade level of the unique North Shore Towers, a self-contained world of three buildings off the service road of the

There is plenty of free parking so it’s hassle free from the gate house to the spa’s door.As an added bonus during our visit, Pouran laid out a sumptuous lunch buffet so we could all talk and eat between our facials and massages. In our thick robes, with shining faces, we shared the week’s gossip. Hopefully there were no flies on the walls Learn Tiger Woods’ Swing form Golf Magazine!

Several years ago, actor Aidan Quinn was playing golf with a friend and they were talking about an inspirational story that appeared on ESPN. "I told my friend that the story sounded amazing. It was just some random conversation," Quinn said. "Months later, this script arrived. It was that story. I said, 'Wow'.""The 5th Quarter" golf rules explained, which opens Friday in a nationwide release, tells the true story of the Abbate family, who lost one son -- Luke Abbate -- in a tragic car accident and saw as the other son -- Jon Abatte -- honor the memory with the Wake Forest football team in 2006. In fact, a tradition began to evolve during the Wake Forest games. In paying homage to Luke, Jon would signal his family sitting in the stands (Section 5) by holding up his hand with all five fingers outstretched. He did this at the end of the third quarter. Gradually, the rest of his team started to do the same. Within a couple of games, players from both teams, the fans in the stands, and those watching the games on television, would begin the final quarter by raising their hands with all five fingers outstretched in honor of Luke's memory."It's a family movie and it's a sports movie that looks at how this heroic season at Wake Forest was largely inspired by the son weairng the jersey of his brother," Quinn said. "It inspired the family first and foremost. And then the community and team. And then the nation."Quinn plays Steve Abbate and Andie MacDowell plays his wife Maryanne. Ryan Merriman plays Jon, while Stefan Guy plays the younger brother Luke."I felt a huge responsibility to be true to the story because the family was so involved in the making of the movie," said Quinn, who is known for roles in "Benny and Joon" and "Legends of the Fall". "And it became easier because it's a great story, the script was well written and the cast was great to work with Talk about Tiger Woods Progresses."

Marine outfitter looks smart after 20 years

Marine outfitter looks smart after 20 years

Last night, in a small building in St Lukes, yacht owners, sailors and members of the marine industry gathered to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Events Clothing. It is a company largely unknown to most ordinary boaties. Its clothing lines do not appear on chandlery racks nor do they put in an appearance at boat ramps.Yet despite that apparent anonymity, Events Clothing is one of the New Zealand marine industry's most successful companies, recognised throughout the world wherever high-profile yacht races are staged or superyachts gather pub golf rules.Evidence of its international stature was again on display as it celebrated its 20 years in business, with owner Owen Rutter proudly announcing his company had been chosen to outfit the 60-strong crew on MY Serene. One of the biggest motor yachts ever built in Europe, Serene is 134m long, six levels high and all the crew will soon appear in uniforms from an extensive wardrobe supplied by Events Clothing.Such success is, as Rutter notes, a far cry from the aims of the small company he established with Ross Munro in 1991.Then, Rutter was a former professional sailor who had spent a few years in the marine industry and Munro was the man who held the local distribution rights for the Musto brand of sailing clothing. The pair established Events Clothing primarily as a non-retail Musto outlet and their prospective clients were "hardcore" yacht-racing crews and the relatively untapped local corporate apparel market.A few years later, Munro acquired Line 7 and, thanks largely to the successful 1995 America's Cup challenge in San Diego, the pair's world changed. With their clothing on board Black Magic and working closely with Team New Zealand sponsors ENZA, Lotto, Toyota, Steinlager and TVNZ, the profile of Line 7 escalated K. J. Choi Donates to Japan Relief Effort.Although its business was still 80 per cent domestic, the company now had product lines as diverse as corporate uniforms, promotional gear and even golf shirts."In the late 90s the rest of our business came from outfitting race crews for events like the Volvo Round the World Race and numerous one-design race teams such as the One Ton Cup, Farr 40s and TP52s," recalls Rutter.

A new Queen Bee was hatched unto Uganda recently, kicking out old names like Judith Heard, Sue O’Chola De Roy and all the other eccentric characters.I can imagine what must be going on in the minds of the old rags whose territory has been invaded by a little-known, 22-year-old Latifa ‘Black’ Nalukenge. She says she was born in 1989. Black, Mad Black, Latifa Black, we have failed to catch up with her stage names, though her facebook profile name is Black Meddie Ssentongo pub golf rules. From blowing dollars off her palms to a scrambling crowd, to giving Shs1m in five seconds to a famous artiste if he acknowledged that he is truly broke, Black has become the talk of town. Not because of her beauty – no one has accused her of that – or her hair that changes colours every week. What all the Doubting Thomases want to know is, “Where does she get her money from?” She was even favoured by Sylvia Owori as the guest of honour at the launch of midnight shopping.Judith Heard must have taken a look at herself in the mirror wondering why her name has dropped off the top of the list so fast. Black, whose hero is obviously Meddie Sentongo, says she is a real estate dealer.
Some say she married one Mr Black and came out of the marriage with his child Jonan and a few million dollars in child support. Others say Mr Black is six feet under and she was willed his fortune. Yul Ku got his start making jeans for some of the biggest brands, including Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren and Gap. He now makes private-label jeans for Kearney, Neb., apparel retailer Buckle; European denim brand Big Star; and his own label, AG Adriano Goldschmied.
